Getting It

Words from a Christian that understands the Bible, end times, and the Middle East combined, better than anyone I’ve seen, can be found below. He also understands what true worship means. Important stuff!!

You will find Bible verses below, interspersed with Amir’s comments.

True Worship

“If God made us to worship Him, that means that He wants people to worship Him, How? In spirit and in truth. How can anyone worship someone in spirit and in truth, unless he does it from his heart? Which means in order for us to worship Him in spirit and in truth, we must have what? Free will.

God gave all of us what? Free will. In other words, we can choose to either worship Him or not, love Him or not, accept Him or not. And when we do accept, and do love, and do worship, it’s because we chose to. And that is what we call true worship.” Life is full of choices (some more significant than others), and all of us make choices every day. Some will choose what or where to eat and that choice will affect them for hours. Others will choose where to spend their vacation, and their choice will impact them for days or even weeks. Still others will choose a career path and that choice will impact their life. Every person has a series of choices that will be specific to their own likes and dislikes, tastes and desires, but there’s one choice that’s common to every person:

Joshua 24:15
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Jesus said in Matthew 12:30 that a person is either for Him or against Him. And in the context of Joshua’s statement, that means we’re either serving Him or serving other gods, and this is a matter of choice. This choice is distinct from all others, however, in that the results of this choice are not like choosing a meal or where to vacation. This is a choice as to where to spend eternity.

Yet, having made the most important-of-all choice to be for the Lord and not against Him, there are other choices we must make every day, including the choice to worship Him in spirit and truth.

John 4:23-24
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

The Greek word for worship is interesting. It literally means “to kiss the hand.” The idea is obviously one acknowledging the superiority of another. It is not the act of kissing the hand that gives the full meaning, but rather the posture necessary to do so. The word also means “to prostrate in homage or submission.” Often times, when we hear the term “worship”, our thinking turns to singing, maybe even singing songs in church before a sermon. The true meaning of worship is to live prostrated before and in submission to God.

Worship is a way of life, having made the choice to accept Christ as Savior and experiencing the forgiveness of sins. We might say God is seeking those who will live for Him. And those who choose to must do so by the Spirit.

2 Chronicles 16:9a
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

Aren’t the Lords eyes running to and fro throughout the whole earth the same thing as seeking? The answer is obviously yes, and the heart that is loyal to Him is going to manifest itself in worship, bowing before and being submitted to God who is our strength.

Among all the bizarre things that are happening in our world, we see some who are bowing before other human beings as an act of submission. Yet, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego wouldn’t bow to the statue of Nebuchadnezzar. We know that thousands of Christians were martyred because they would not “bow the knee” to Caesar.

Revelation 22:8-9
Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”
This next point is from me, Wayne. Thow shall have no other gods is sort of the whole ball of wax if I may. In the above verse, an angel is admonishing John for bowing to it instead of God. Do remember that Jesus is God.
Back to Amire and the Bible.

There is but One who is worthy of prostrating and submitting ourselves before in worship, and it’s God! We do not bow before men because it says something about the one being bowed before and expresses that they’re worthy of being prostrated before and being submitting to. This is something that only God is worthy of.

What a great thing to know that God is seeking worshipers to show Himself strong on their behalf. His eyes are roaming the earth looking for worshippers to strengthen. Let’s not limit our thinking when we hear the word worship to lyrics set to music that exalts and honors God. This is a wonderful thing and would probably be more fittingly described as praise. But let’s choose to live in submission to His will, plans and purposes for our lives knowing He is looking to strengthen us when we do.

Philippians 2:9-11
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Someday, every knee will bow before Christ and make the confession that He is the Lord to the glory of God the Father. Those who choose to do so now will live the life of a worshipper that is strengthened by God. Those who do not, will miss those blessings, but in the end will still bow before Him and confess Him as Lord.

God watches over His worshippers and blesses them with His strength. Choose to be a worshipper today. We might choose a bad meal sometimes or even make the wrong choice for a vacation destination, but being a worshipper of God is one choice you’ll never regret.

Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.

On behalf of Amir, I say God Bless
Wayne
