More Landscaping

On my last photography post I began a journey to one of photography’s most popular subjects, the land. Let us now resume viewing the American landscape.

We are currently in the autumn of the season, so let us begin with that.

Gold is good, but red is even better. That of course, is an opinion.

The first two images below were created in the fall (really, no kidding) of the season in the southern area of Wisconsin.

Red with blue, really pops.

This next one was in the wilderness of one of Wisconsin’s national forests.

The boat was not mine but I felt it added to the image. I spent the night before just a 100 feet or so into the woods. I was by myself, and had a pleasant night’s sleep in a small tent away from city life.

Of course, we all know what’s nest after fall.

Sunrise is my favorite time of day and the contrast (that word again) of the warm light, the clear blue sky and the snow, intrigued me.

Every landscape need not necessarily be crisp, front to back and left to right.

Below we have mountain rain clouds heading my way in Colorado.

Mood can be a very important aspect of a landscape.

Fog at sunrise can produce some big time moodiness. Exposure for a scene like this was made with a meter reading in the second brightest area of the scene. That’s in order to create silhouettes in one area, a colorful gold in another, and a reflection that is in-between those extremes in the part of pond that is closest to us.

This next one is another shot garnered in the Rocky Mts. Sky, land, and then lake with an arriving storm.

I have not shared imagery from the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee for years.

Fog is one aspect of the Smokey’s that I love. Below a mid morning shot of that subject while deep in the woods.

Of course, the Smokey’s have there share on non foggy days as well. This image is composed obviously, flowers first, river second, and forest last. Sometimes order is a good thing.

Back to the Rocky Mts again.

Flowers make great “lead ins” for images not matter where you are. Blossoms, grassy hills, mountains and sky.

Finally, let us end the today with a beautiful, desert plant, a rock, the top of the mountain, and a blue sky. West Texas is the location, and I was happy to be there with all of those tools to create a landscape photo.

One of everyone’s primary goals in life, on a daily basis, is to learn. We cannot learn if we already know everything. Or think we do, Blog writers such as myself, sometimes act as though we are “all knowing”. That’s God’s department.

There are different kinds of riches. Money and things yes, but knowledge is a wealth in and of itself. While we learn from others, never “farm out” your need to know, to someone else. Of course, excepting God.

Learning something each and every day should be our goal.

I guess I better get to work.
