Innocent or Guilty?
The most important questions we get in life, are those we feel
compelled to ask ourselves. We tend to be both the most lenient, and
the harshest, with ourselves. Ultimately we are the only critics
from among our fellow mortals that we cannot run away from.

It seems to me to be unfortunate, that even in our most heartfelt
beliefs, and in the most important educational and spiritual aspects
of our lives, we humans so often would rather be told what we want to
hear, rather than hear the truth. Even when the Truth is Blessed and
will set us free.
Some people live out their entire lives in search of what they want to
hear. They move from person to person, from group to group, from
religion to religion in search of having their personal desires
verified by hearing what they want to hear.
Often, when we see, hear or read something, everything we digest, if
we go far enough to call it digesting, is just what we want it to be.
If we like the carrier of the news, we often force feed ourselves a
positive message. Conversely, if we have a preconceived notion about
the messenger, no matter what they say or do, the message will be a
bad one.
We pick and choose what we hear, in accordance to who is delivering
the message, to fit how we want it to fit..
I am not judging. I and everybody else will do that at some point. We
often feel that we can have all of our wants and desires justified by
somebody or something, if they will just “tell us what we want to
hear” (by who we desire to say it).
There have been times in my life when I have gone to exhausting levels
to avoid hearing the truth. The truth wasn’t what I wanted it to be,
so I preferred to keep my ears covered and my eyes closed until the message I wanted appeared.
It is in fact the truth, that will set us free.
These facts are pervasive in and out of the church.

2 Timothy 4:3,4 (KJV)
3 For the time will come (it is here) when they will not endure sound
doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap themselves
teachers, having itching ears. (This verse is referring to people who
will only listen to teachers who preach what they want to hear. The
itching ears refers to lusting for the “smooth and comfortable word”.
They reject the truth in preference for lies that make them
comfortable. This description came from a study Bible)
4 And they shall turn away from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Is it not better to soar freely like an eagle, than to be shackled to
those who merely want to “keep you on the plantation”.?

Galatians 5:1
1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm then, and
do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
