We cannot hear, if we do not listen.
The Addict
All of us have been addicted to something in our lives. An addiction
need not need be limited to alcohol, drugs, smoking, sexual
addictions, spending and buying habits, etc.. I suspect it could be
cracking your knuckles. Any habit, you cannot break on your own. I was
a smoker for almost thirty years. I unwittingly (as was usual in those
days) accepted God’s help in breaking that habit.
There was a time, for round about ten years or better, when I was
addicted to night clubbing and all the debauchery that came with it.
God spoke to me and made it possible if not necessary, for me to walk
away from that addiction. I was delivered from that addictive
lifestyle with the Lord‘s help, before it cost me my life.
God speaks to each and every one of us. If we accomplish anything in
our lives, learning to listen to Him will be the most important thing.
The more we listen, the more He speaks. The more He speaks, the more
we hear. It’s up to each and every one of us.
It is our decision.

Galatians 5:1
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free,
and be not entangled again in the yoke of bondage. (Bondage here means
our “addiction” to sin. We can be set free!)

Passions, need not be addictions.
I had/have an incredible passion for
photography. I always walked away from that passion and took care of
life whenever necessary. It never became an addiction.
I had a passion during those years when I had horses, and I lived as
much of the type of life as was possible. When
finances were tight, and my last horse died, I walked away. I was sad
for a while, but God was telling me it is time. I listened, although I
would probably not have admitted I did that, at the time.
Listen and you will hear,
Wayne
