I want to take this opportunity on Veteran’s Day to thank all of you who have served in our armed services, as you are a special breed! It has become fashionable to remember days like this and that is a good thing. As someone who tends to do things differently, I am proud to stand with others in honoring those who have in the past and are now serving our country.
For almost all of my life I have been considered “unique” by the majority of the people who know me. I am being kind to myself as the terms weird or odd might be more commonly used by some to describe me. It was a bit painful as a kid, but I embraced it as an adult. I even wrote a post on this blog labeled “The Misfit”. Since the age of 20 or so I have never tried to be mainstream in my approach to things. Note that I am not writing about being harmful, or being different to the point of hurting people or my country. It just never seemed to me that going along with the program brought any satisfaction. If that’s what everybody is doing then what good will it be to add me to the list. Is there another approach that might reveal the truth? This is true of everything from politics to photography and from to religion or art. There have been times when my “differences” have cost me personally but if I let that stop me then I would have been different for all of the wrong reasons. I would like to take a second to recognize all of those who are different for all of the right reasons and who have used those differences to produce so much more than I ever did.
I thank you for stopping at Earth Images and may God Bless
