The Rose

No, there are no images of roses today. We will get to The Rose, a little later.

Whatever your specific photographic subjects are, they are always similar when it comes to how we make a great image to share.. Fruit may grow on different trees or bushes, but it’s still fruit. The color of water can differ in streams and lakes, but it is all water.

Every type of bird is different, but they too have a lot in common. Most, not all fly, and every sort that I and my cameras have met, would strike a photogenic pose for my camera. If I remain patient.

The Rough-legged hawk below is a common winter visitor in my native Wisconsin. They are favorites of mine even when they strike a typical “hawk pose” as you see below.

t we have another oft times times more spectacular winter visitor here. It is the Snowy Owl. They tend to look straight into the camera lens. At least until we begin to bore them. One of the the best models in the wild world.

Cold Feet, Warm Heart. That is what I named the finished print I made and sold of this Black-capped Chickadee.

I have made many superior prints of individual birds before and after this one, but this one was popular.

The Cedar Waxwing is a bird that is right way up, sideways and upside down as it scours trees and bushs for caterpillars, worms and other “creepy crawlies”.

Of course, for me, sometimes the creepy crawlies were my subject.

. There’s nothing like some South Dakota Badlands images at the very edge of light. Drama ensues.

Often when I photographed buildings, especially old historic ones, I viewed them as rock forms or even mountains for my image making.

Like with many subjects, light is as important as is what is bathed in that light.

Dragonfly up close.

This “frog in the spotlight”, seems to be naturally lit by a narrow beam of sunlight shining through the trees, rather than electronic flash. It was natural.

Light as delivered by God,, is most always better than electronic flash.

Enough photography for today.

Most of you know that I enjoy music and I am esepcially fond of great song lyrics. Below we have the words to the song called The Rose.

Janis Joplin frecorded this song and Bette Midler, not my favoroite but a good actress, played a Joplin like character in the movie of the name The Rose.

I put these lyrics at or near the top of the heep when it comes to pop songs. Very powerful and well placed. Each of us has something we can identify with in those words. I know I surely do.

Life is a roller coaster.

,Because you are without the music below, and you may not be alone. attempt to silently in your mind, speak the words in sort of a rythmic cadence. That will help the words to come alive and become poetic, if you will.

The Rose

Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love, it is a hunger
An endless aching need
I say love, it is a flower
And you, its only seed
It’s the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It’s the dream afraid of waking
That never takes the chance
It’s the one who won’t be taken
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul, afraid of dying
That never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun’s love, in the spring becomes the rose.

The words above may initialy seem pessimistic, but they are very optimistic.

I know it has been a while since I have shared my faith, so here I go.

In my opinion, the only way to live is with the Holy Spirit of God inside of us. That only comes with the knowledge and acceptance of Jesus Christ who is the Son of Man, the Son of God, and was God in a human body.

Faith, and acceptance of what He did for us, is the one and only road to Heaven. It can render “clean” the dirty truth that otherwise lives inside of us.

It can help us find the rose.

May God Bless, and may your every day be a spring morning.

I know it has been a while since I posted a blog. There were some technical reasons for that.

As you can see, I have not changed. My photography and my religion/faith, remain the same.

Life without faith, is not living, it is existing in a selfish world without God, which only leads to hell.

May God Bless,
Wayne
