Varied Themes or Subjects

Today’s title pretty much describes my photo subjects and treatments, as well as my writing.

Different things for different days.

Insects up close. The butterfly below was literally glowing in a shaft of sun in an otherwise dark forest. A great time to be a nature photographer.

The Thirteen-lined Ground squirrel was among my favorite small mammals to photograph. At times I would spend an hour or better with a couple of these guys.

Sometimes you have to shoot fast with small critters like this but, other times you can spend an entire day at the same location.

Either getting down close to eye level or shooting with a long lens fairly close will move subjects like this up into the center of our view,

The image you see below of a male Belted Kingfisher was important for me as I had no success with these guys for several years. Then this fellow below showed up right next to ny car, and hung around for two or three minutes providing me with plenty of time to add a few pictures to my files. I was in my car when I made this.

Sometimes the simplest subjects are the most beautiful. I needed only to look down and this field grass with rain, was waiting for my camera.

Filling our viewfinders with something fairly tiny, can bring size and life to subjects. Of course, the caterpillar below was admittedly somewhat rotund to begin with.

Frogs have been a favorite subject for me for a long time. If they stare you (and your camera) right in the eyes, well, so much the better.

Be it winter or fall or any other time, trees are great subjects. Dramatic light helps pull the drama from the subject. When possible, put the seaons on display.

Back to the animal world to close with.

I spotted this Painted Turtle along side the road as I drove along. A few snaps from my car, and this subject has been made “somewhat” immortal.

I love nature photography.

1 Thessalonians 4:17
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord (Jesus) in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord”

May God Bless,
