From Pronghorns to The Land

We begin today with three curious Pronghorns in Colorado. Then we have the king.

These images were made as I sat in my car, which often was my photo blind. Critters get used to cars, and that is good news for photographers.

I believe this cute little bird is a male Magnolia Warbler but my knowledge of the thousands of small birds I have photographed has vanished with the years. I would guess that the car blind was also put into use for this one.

As most of you know, I am always a fan of sunrises and sunsets. They are or were, also quite sellable for sales going to the fine art print markets or to calendars.

They make peaceful yet powerful statements with dependence of the overall power or tranquility of the scene. Do not forget to interpret the scene, vertically as well as horizontally.

I love the regality of wading birds, and the Snowy Egret has that quality, although Snowies like the one below, are a bit more compact than what we think of when of when it comes to royalty.

I’d tell you where this one was taken but I am not sure. Either Missouri, New Mexico or Wisconsin. You could not find three more different states.

As long as we are doing wildlife why not a tiny bit of such. Insect photography is wildlife photography. Be it the macro of the genre.

Working super close like this means your depth of field or near to far focus if you will, might be shallow. In such a case, shoot for the eyes. In this case, big eyes.

Finally, let us end this with a landscape. Northwestern Colorado if memory serves, and sometimes it does, and sometimes it does not..

God Bless,
Wayne
