Those Eyes & More

Today we just have one of those Heinz 57, a little of this, a little of that style posts.

I love frogs. As a photographer, I especially enjoy their eyes. The “eyes of the frog!” The images below, are of a frog in the wild.

I caught this Bull Frog in an open woodland near a wetland many, many moons ago. As you can see, I was especially taken with its eyes!!

Those who know me, also know that I live for the sunrise and/or sunset. I have made thousands of images of that subject. Below are a few examples.

Winter sunrises may be the best. Lake Michigan at Cave Point, Door County Wisconsin.

This is a winter sunrise and yes, that is snow. The color of anything is what the color really is, plus what the color of light that it bathes in is. It does pay to keep your exposure fairly low with images like this. Otherwise, you will wash out the richness of the color.

Water and reflections can make a “super sunrise” out of a casual one.

Often my favorite sunrises are softly muted. Most of the time it is fog or mist that softens the view.

Below is a Wisconsin prairie at sunrise. Note how the silhouetted trees, bushes and grasses separate the warm color washes from one another.

You photographers who love the winter, depending on where you live, take note, it is a fleeting phenomenon. We can say “winter”, many ways.

Of course, spring waits her turn right around the corner. The Julia Butterfly

I am the sort who has in my life, bounced around back and forth as sometimes being “with the crowd”, and then the consummate loner. The loner more often than the joiner.

Both, can provide us with an edification of our minds and our hearts. Every turn in life, brings enlightenment if we allow it. I only wish I would have recognized that more often.

I actually believe I have benefited from my “back & forth” way of living.

For me, being with the crowd often meant pretending to believe things that in my heart, were false. Then on other occasions, I was blessed to share my experiences with great friends.

We are who we are. Both who God chose us to be, and who we decided be. I often turned my back on God to live “my way”. Now I more often turn my back on “the world”, and attempt to live His way.

We are born with free will, and the choices we make, will move us up or down, but we will rarely stand still.

May God Bless,
Wayne
