Feathered

Today’s post is for the birds.

The image below was one of many I made on a chilly early spring morning in northwest Wisconsin. This is a male Sharp-tailed Grouse who is attempting to impress a pretty lady who is just out of the picture area. Eventually, after several dances, she finally said yes.

Canada Goose gosling preening. Mom and dad must have ordered a good cleaning.

There’s nothing like humanizing our feathered friends.

This is called being “spread-eagle“. Bald eagle that us.

I often composed vertical action shots, when it was required. I believe this is one of them. Composing vertical movement with panning takes some practice. If it seems too awkward, then make sure your composition is loose with empty space around the subject, then crop to what you want at home.

Bird abstracts .can come in many forms. Edge to edge birds is my favorite type. These are gulls.

Four first year male Yellow-headed Blackbirds sitting on a branch.

Of course, we all know my love for sunrise or sunset. This Snowy Owl posed for me pretty much all morning on that winter’s day. Of course, the color of this white bird, changed as the sun changed.

A bird photo does not necessarily need to have detail. Shape, color and movement make for nice photos.

While putting together this little post, I began reflecting, mainly on life itself. That of course is always dangerous for me, although I feel better when I get it out and share it.

Everyone should have a blog as it is cathartic.

Life is a series of events, from conception (fertilization), when our bodies and souls first feel the spark of life, and on to death. The first obstacle is of course, actually being allowed to live from the moment of that fertilization, to birth. Then life outside the womb begins.

What we do, and what direction we take, is not only the centerpiece of our lives, but in many ways, it is our lives, or wil become our lives.

There is both evil and good abounding everywhere we look. It took me a large slice of my life, to choose good over evil. I was always in a battle, but finally good (God) won.

I thank God, literally, that the door was still open. The opportunities end when our bodies die.

Do what you can when you can.

Make it count!!

May God Bless,
Wayne
