I think the hardest thing to do as a writer is to tell the truth about yourself. How do you really feel way down inside? 12 year old poet Shannon McManus is willing to do that.
Rose
I am a small little rose
One of many
I am a sweet little rose
Out of them all, you may see me
In a sea of roses and thorns
I have thorns too
They are my armor, my protection from others
When people look to pick one of us to be in a bouquet
They always pick the other roses first because they are prettier, but I am me and that’s what counts
I am a small little rose, now and forevermore

I thought I’d close out with a few wildlife images. Two young foxes, a Great-horned Owlet, and a Common Loon. The first fox photo was created in Illinois and the rest of the images were made in Wisconsin. Just like me.
