Today’s images have never been seen before (except by me) and were made in the early 2000s with my Pentax 645 medium format camera. These pictures record close-up action of a waterfall/cascade/river rapids. I remember this day and it is odd for me to cover a subject like this, and not make a single straight image. Every picture I made that afternoon was at least bordering on the abstract. Must have been in a non-literal mood. They were made late in the day with a lot of warmth in the resulting imagery. I have included one shade/blue image. The brightness of the day made it necessary to use several combinations of neutral density filters and polarizing filters in an effort to rob the scene of light, and produce the slow shutter speed needed for the dreamy effect I wanted. My ND filters were of the soft edge graduated sort so I only used the darkened half. Keep in mind that when I used neutral density filters, graduated or not, two stops were the maximum. They now have ten stop filters.

I hope you enjoyed viewing the images, I certainly enjoyed making them.
I don’t know if I will keep with the task of copying and showing film images, but there are well over 50,000 pictures to go. Looking at my old film images has been an interesting experience for me. They are kept in a large metal upright cabinet. It is 6 feet high, about 3 1/2 feet across and 2 1/2 feet deep. The images themselves are all in stacks of archival books. So far (this time) I have opened two books and looked at about 40 images. I am quite sure I will never attempt my wildlife and flower files. They are the biggest. The experience of looking at the actual images is only partially what I expected. Among the small number of images that I have looked at, many bring back fond memories. Sometimes it is the location, sometimes the act of making the pictures, and there are still other times when it is the shared experience with someone else. There are however already, many images that I do not remember making, and in some cases do not remember where they were taken. I am experiencing looking at someone elses images, only they are mine. It is a bazaar, but interesting and rewarding time for me.
Just thinking out loud.
Thanks for stopping,
Wayne
