As a Spiritual person, one can find the natural world and the revelation of it as a testimony of God’s love. Our Heavenly Father, Creator of the source of life, of wisdom, and of joy allows us to look at the wonderful and beautiful things of the natural world, be they flora or fauna. STOP and THINK about their marvelous adaptations to their needs and happiness……this not only includes man and all of his inventions, but also all living things of this world. The sunshine and the rain that gladden and refresh the earth…..the hills and mountains, the seas and oceans, and the plains and deserts and the forest and wetlands…..all provide beauty and all speak to us of our Creator’s love. It is also God who supplies the daily needs of all his creatures. This is his law of love.
The world, though fallen, is not all misery and sorrow. In the natural world are messages of hope and comfort. It is how one views it…..everyone is aware of the “cup half full or half empty” cliché……In the natural world the cliché becomes “there are flowers upon the thistles and the thorns are covered with roses.”
“God is love” is written on every blossom that opens from the bud, every spire of a blade of grass that holds the dew in the morning light. It is written even stronger in the beauty of the avian species filling the air with their vocal happy songs, and the delicate colorful flowers tinting the visual with the touch of their perfection perfuming the air, and the lush green foliage all about us all testify to the Heavenly Fathers care to make His children happy.
As photographers, it becomes our job to create images from our many excursions into the lush world created for us to enjoy and transport it to those who are less fortunate they are actually not accustomed to being fulfilled by this beauty. It becomes our responsibility to show and stimulate God’s offerings of love to others. To make this easier for us our Creator established the seasons, thus a repeat of annual events would take place thus making new and different material for us to photograph creating an endless supply of subject matter. First comes spring and the rebirth, then summer and the growth, and fall brings the slowing down which leads to the dormancy of winter. Then it starts over again.
As a biologist, one can learn not only about the cyclic seasons but also the intricate inter species balance and symbiotic relationships happening in the daily life of what inhabits our planet. One can also see that there is much more to the cyclic phenomenon than just the seasons. Stop and think about the water cycle, the moon phases, the nitrogen and other chemical cycles that influence the decomposition of matter. The natural world also contains the cyclic patterns of life to fulfill their lives. Look at the migrations, not only birds but also animals as the wildebeest, and elk and sheep and goats, and the whales.
Again as photographers, always hunting for subject matter and new and different ways to present the natural world to the public, one needs to be aware of the cycles within the realm of God’s creations. This allows the photographer the best advantage of creating an interesting image of the perfect specimen.
Thus after stating that which I did, and with 30 years of hunting for images, I created a monthly calendar to allow me to know what to expect to find at certain times of the year. It will start appearing (with the month appropriate) in the near future. You will find June below.
