Here I Go Again

I keep telling myself that I will not use the Earth Images Nature Photography blog for opinion pieces on subjects other than nature or photography…but…here I go again.

When I first joined Facebook it was mainly to move the business of nature photography forward.  It wasn’t long before that ended and it became a way to stay in touch with a few friends and follow others through the world of photography and/or nature.   In addition to that it morphed into my own special social experiment.  What will people talk about and reveal about themselves in a forum that will allow anywhere from 1 to 5,000 “friends” to read your posts?

I have a group of Facebook friends who regularly read posts from this blog, and I can honestly say that you are all a class act.  When you offer opinions on Facebook they are respectful and of the sort that most thinking people will understand.  This article is however about some of those other “friends”  who occasionally visit Earth Images, and may read this post.

Why do you think I or anyone else would want to open our homepage to find your bitter and hateful political and social statements?   There are websites and blogs (where they belong) all over the internet that serve that function.  Just about everyone who makes those posts has a blog.  When you write them on your own blog, that means people purposefully visit in order to read what you have to say.  Of course Facebook does provide both UNSUBSCRIBE and de-friend buttons and I have been using them frequently as of late.  The point is, when I hook up with someone as a Facebook “friend” I should be able to expect my home page to be free of hatred, vulgarities and comments which are plain old offensive.  I am at times amazed at how it is often those people who force the world of political correctness down our throats, that are so often the very people who slander and libel so many because of a belief system that differs from theirs.

Notice that my complaints are directed towards the location of those words.  I am not saying that they do not have a right to offer their opinions, only that the internet offers thousands of avenues for political and religious hate, via websites and blogs.   In those locations you are welcome to drop as many f-bombs as your upbringing and low intellect can produce.

May your path be bright and clear

The very reason I ditched Facebook and others about 2 weeks after I joined. To be critized is one thing, but to show ones intelligence level with the use of “F”our letter words is another. If one does not respect what another individual writes or creates, there is an X box to click on and don’t come back.
