Hot & Cold

As we experience a near +100F day here in the north land, it brings memories of days spent in the field in the act of nature photography, where I was without a doubt either hot or cold.

I have been in the field in some hot weather with the hottest (to my memory) being near Grand Junction Colorado at +106F and the coldest being right here in Wisconsin with the low tempt while I was out being -21F.   It becomes a little too easy for my memory to tell me that every day in nature was either very hot or very cold but of course the truth is that most day have been in moderate and enjoyable temperatures.  Still in some ways it is the hot & cold days, and the long walks back in the rain, and the times I was lost in the wilderness that I remember most.  Maybe that is because living the outdoor life would not be as rewarding if it were not for the extremes.  It is during those times that  we realize just how important it is to us, and just exactly what we are made of.
