Mixing It Up

As I drove through the fog and darkness, I wondered what the morning would bring.  The light of a new day had just began its smile when I got to the entrance of Bong State Rec. Area.  I drove to the middle of the park and as I looked east I remembered why I get up so early in the morning.

Catching diving ducks in mid-dive is something I always enjoy.  You can barely see the “golden eye” of this male Goldeneye below the surface of the water.

Simple subjects are effective subjects.  Just some wild grasses afer a rain.

This is the last Snowy Owl that I have photographed.  It was early 2010.

Speaking of owls (and I just was), my greatest disappointment of 2010 was the lack of nesting Great-horned Owls in a tree cavity of a near-by cemetery.  Got these in 2009.

Okay, not a great picture of a Bozo-ish looking little critter.  Still at some point in time every wildlife photographer should see a baby American Coot.Sometimes you get close to wildlife and sometimes they come close to you.  I photographed this Sandhill Crane in mid-call as he walked right by my car.

Just a cool bird.  It is always great (and difficult) to get a close shot of a Belted Kingfisher.

What I love even more than autumn is early fall while summer is still trying to stay, and very late fall when the last stubborn leaves hang on.  The early fall photo below is two seasons for the price of one.  Made in southeastern Wisconsin.

Once again I appreciate your stopping by.  Have a special day.

Wayne
